ArmInfo. A year ago on this day, ethnic cleansing took place in Artsakh, and 120,000 Armenians were forcibly displaced by the Azerbaijani regime from Artsakh - the land where they lived for more than 2,000 years. This was stated in a video message by world-famous musician Serj Tankian.
<After nine months of blockade and starvation, Azerbaijan attacked them. Former Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Luis Moreno Campo described Azerbaijan's actions as "genocide". The UN International Criminal Court, in turn, made several decisions, stating the need for the return of the Armenians of Artsakh>, Tankian said. He believes that international peacekeeping forces can ensure the return of Armenians and their safety in Artsakh. Howeveer, this requires the political will of the international community, specifically of the European Union and the United States. The OSCE can also play a major role in this matter.
<We cannot lose the hope of repatriation, our desire to return to our homeland. What happened was an example of colonialism at its worst, including ethnic cleansing and genocide. The people of Artsakh should have an opportunity to return to their homes, live in peace and normal conditions. We must all stand with them>, -the musician concluded.
