ArmInfo. A united and strong Diaspora is our most powerful ally, and during meetings with our compatriots, I often say that they are the ambassadors of our country around the world. This was stated by the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan during his welcoming speech at the opening of the Second World Armenian Summit.
"In your person, Armenia has the largest diplomatic apparatus in the world, because, being worthy and responsible citizens of your countries, you also represent today's Armenia," the President said.
In this regard, he noted that Armenia is a home and refuge for Armenians scattered around the world, regardless of time, authorities, internal and external developments. He emphasized that the participation of the Diaspora is extremely important, be it cultural initiatives, educational programs or investments.
"Rest assured that distance cannot diminish our common bond. Your voice is heard, your actions matter, and together we can build an Armenia that will reflect our collective aspirations," the President said.
Vahagn Khachaturyan emphasized that the World Summit provides a unique opportunity to discuss the current challenges facing Armenia, find ways to overcome them, as well as highlight the reforms being carried out in various areas and discuss issues of progress and development of the country.
He also noted that despite the existing problems, Armenia remains committed to its commitment to establish an era of peace. In this regard, Khachaturyan emphasized that the country has embarked on comprehensive reforms aimed at strengthening democratic institutions, enhancing defense capability, creating a competitive and attractive economic environment, as well as improving the quality of life and well-being of citizens.
"These reforms are the foundation on which a more secure, just, prosperous, inclusive and strong Armenia is built," the President added.
The World Armenian Summit kicked off on September 17, bringing together 1,000 participants from over 60 countries. The Summit participants will take part in multi-format sessions, during which 180 speakers from 25 countries will deliver speeches, including renowned Armenian experts, public and government figures specializing in various issues of the country's life.
During the working days of the summit, the participants will discuss topics from areas relevant in Armenia and the Diaspora. Let us add that the World Armenian Summit was held for the first time in 2022.
