ArmInfo. The Deputy Chairperson of the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) and ARF member Sarine Abrahamyan called for condemnation of Azerbaijan's policy towards Armenia. She made this statement at a meeting of the IUSY leadership and the Forum of Young Social Democratic Parliamentarians, which took place from September 6 to 10 in Rabat (Morocco).
In her presentation, Abrahamyan spoke about the current external challenges facing Armenia, Azerbaijan's militaristic policy towards our country, its violation of Armenia's territorial integrity and the illegal demands for concessions under the threat of force. The Deputy Chairperson of IUSY recalled the ethnic cleansing carried out by Azerbaijan in Artsakh in the fall of 2023, the destruction of the cultural heritage of Artsakh and drew attention to the Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan.
In addition, she touched upon the internal political situation in Armenia, in particular, she pointed out the political persecution of the authorities against opposition members and individuals, as well as the use of brute force by the police.
According to the press service of the ARF, within the framework of the forum, Sarine Abrahamyan met with MPs from Morocco, Colombia and Cape Verde, discussing issues related to COP29 (the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change), which will be held in Baku. Presenting the above issues, she stressed the need to release the political leadership of Artsakh and all detainees. Abrahamyan urged the MPs to call on their governments to condemn the militaristic policy of Azerbaijan and demand the immediate release of Armenian prisoners.
