ArmInfo. World-renowned jurist and former President of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Dr. Chili Eboe-Osuji, will become a member of the Academic Board of Directors of the Zorian Institute, effective October 1, 2024.
In this regard, Dr. William Schabas, a member of the Zorian Institute Board, recalled that Judge Eboe Osuji has had a long and distinguished career in the field of international justice, reaching the highest position of President of the International Criminal Court. "He brings a wealth of experience, as well as great wisdom, to the Zorian Academic Board," Dr. Schabas added.
The Institute also recalled that Dr. Eboe-Osuji served as the fourth President of the ICC from 2018 to 2021, and before that, he served as an ICC judge from 2012 to 2018. In addition, he also served as Legal Adviser to the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights (2010-2012) and, prior to joining the international civil service, practised law in Canada and Nigeria.
In turn, the director of the institute Greg Sarkisian also welcomed the decision of Dr. Eboe-Osuji to join the academic council of the institute. "The staff of the Zoryan Institute is proud of the world-famous scholars who serve on its academic councils. Undoubtedly, the accession of such an authoritative scholar as Dr. Eboe-Osuji to the council of the Institute will help bring the institute to a new level," Sarkisian noted.
The Zoryan Institute is a non-profit research institute. It consists of international academic and scientific centers established in 1982 in Cambridge, Massachusetts and in 1984 in Toronto for the documentation, study and dissemination of scientific materials related to the history and life of the Armenian people, including in the context of international relations.
