ArmInfo. Armenia has handed over the 10th edition of the text of the peace treaty to Azerbaijan and is currently awaiting a response from the Azerbaijani side. This wass stated by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during a joint press conference on September 9 with his Luxembourg counterpart, Luxembourg Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Xavier Bettel.
"We believe that there is a real opportunity to sign a peace treaty in a short time and open a page and an era of long-term peace and stability in the South Caucasus. We are ready to immediately unblock communications in accordance with the principles presented in the "Crossroads of Peace" project," he said. At the same time, the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry emphasized that in essence this is a fully agreed text.
"Our approach is that we are ready to sign the agreed text. Naturally, it is impossible to solve all the problems with one text. Therefore, the remaining issues will be left for further negotiation in case of mutual interest of the parties," the head of the department noted.
In total, Mirzoyan specified that the peace treaty contains 16 points, of which 13 have been fully agreed upon. Touching upon the regulations signed the day before between the Commissions on Delimitation and Demarcation of Borders, the minister noted that there are no secrets from the public here, and no unpleasant surprises are expected either. He emphasized that, as previously stated, the parties will be based on the Alma-Ata Declaration (1991), and other principles that could replace this document were not discussed.
