ArmInfo. Luis Moreno Ocampo, the former prosecutor at the International Criminal Court, will arrive in Armenia on September 13.
"Dear friends,
"Despite all the challenges we face, we have rights that are worth fighting for. One of these rights is the right to seek justice and truth. It is our right to work towards the release of the Armenian hostages who are being held by the Azerbaijani regime. We can do this even as we approach the environmental summit in Baku, which is set to take place in the near future.
"The 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan in November of this year, offers a unique chance to shed light on the human rights violations perpetrated by the Aliyev regime.
"In a country where the rule of law is disregarded and where a dictatorial government arbitrarily detains individuals for political reasons, hosting an organization conference that champions the ideals of peace and security seems inappropriate.
"The appeal is dedicated to Luis Moreno Ocampo, the former prosecutor at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. On September 13, he will hold an open public meeting in Yerevan and discuss the necessary steps to secure the release of Armenian prisoners currently detained in Baku.
"We urge you to support the idea of a civil movement that tackles hypocrisy. Thanks to our efforts, we can unite the world Armenian community and initiate a global campaign on social media and in the media.
"A public meeting with Luis Moreno Ocampo will take place on September 13 at 18:30 at the IBIS Hotel in Yerevan.
"The moderator of the meeting will be Mark Grigoryan.
"Everyone can take part by pre-registering here: https://forms.gle/Bz7NUdLRbaa7NkMPA," reads a Facebook post by the Free Armenian Hostages initiative.
