USAID's programs include democracy development, strengthening economic growth and trade, development lending, energy and water resources, private sector, health, social protection, and the financial sector. USAID's goal is to help Armenia achieve sustainable development through increased competitiveness, improved democratic governance, access to safe and reliable energy resources, and quality health and social services.
The funds, as emphasized in the justification of the draft amendments, will be provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Thus, the total volume of US financial assistance to Armenia will amount to $250 million. Additional financial allocations are planned to be directed to the institutionalization of effective and accountable governance, strengthening democratic consolidation, strengthening economic governance, increasing the competitiveness of target sectors and improving sustainable management of natural resources. The signing of the draft amendments will contribute to the implementation of the main goals of the agreement in the areas of effective and accountable governance, development of democratic values, overcoming economic challenges.
