ArmInfo.The successor of the nuclear dynasty, the son and grandson of the employees of the Armenian NPP, Artur Sharyan, returned to his homeland from the North Pole. He participated in the fifth scientific and educational expedition “Icebreaker of Knowledge” from Rosatom, which took place from August 13 to 23.
This year, the expedition was held in an international format for the first time, and brought together 63 talented schoolchildren from different countries. The expedition participants covered 2979 miles, exploring the mysteries of the North Pole and enjoying the stunning landscapes of the Franz Josef Land archipelago.
Young people from Russia and countries where Rosatom promotes projects in the field of nuclear technologies met on board the icebreaker “50 Years of Victory”.
In honor of the holiday, the flags of participants from 15 countries, including the Armenian tricolor, were flying. Considering the important role of the Armenian NPP in popularizing scientific and technical education, Armenia's participation as a member of the atomic club has become a significant step towards increasing the interest of Armenian youth and strengthening the country's human resources potential in this area.
"I am happy that I had the opportunity to see the Arctic region with my own eyes and touch its secrets. In addition, I met a large number of incredibly talented people and received great pleasure from communicating with them and acquiring new scientific experience. I believe that science is the key to understanding the world and revealing its secrets," shared his impressions of the trip to the North Pole Artur Sharyan.
According to him, this expedition was a unique chance to discover the mysterious Arctic region, see its life with his own eyes and understand its importance for our planet.
Rosatom's jubilee Arctic expedition "Icebreaker of Knowledge - 2024" was dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the nuclear icebreaker fleet.
During the expedition, Rosatom and the Russian Society "Knowledge" organized the northernmost lecture hall, where scientists spoke on board the icebreaker and even at the North Pole itself.
