ArmInfo.Gyumri honored the memory of the heroes who died in the Russian-Turkish wars.
As reported by the press service of Rossotrudnichestvo, every year the Russian House in Gyumri, together with the Consulate General of Russia in Gyumri, the Leninakan border detachment, the 102nd military base and local public organizations, holds a rally at the "Hill of Honor" memorial in memory of the 240 officers of the Russian army who died during the Russo-Turkish wars (1828, 1855 and 1877-1878).
Consul-Adviser of the Consulate General of Russia in Gyumri Yuri Kovalko noted in his welcoming speech that this memorial, perpetuating the memory of the officers of the Russian Empire, is yet another proof and symbol of centuries-old Russian-Armenian friendship.
After a minute of silence, Priest Timofey Kazaryan held a litiya in memory of the Russian soldiers who found peace on Armenian soil. The rally ended with the traditional laying of flowers and wreaths.
