ArmInfo. During a meeting with Andrew Turner, the Canadian Ambassador to Armenia, Robert Ghukasyan, the Governor of Syunik Region, expressed his gratitude for the diplomat's visit to Syunik.
According to the regional press service, Ghukasyan also congratulated Turner on the opening of the Canadian Embassy in Armenia.
The Governor expressed confidence that the opening of the embassy will strengthen ties between the two friendly countries even further and new prospects for cooperation will emerge.
As part of his first familiarization visit to Syunik, the diplomat asked several questions about the region's potential. The Governor presented the guest with an overview of Syunik's economy, the current security situation, development opportunities and more.
Andrew Turner emphasized the importance of getting acquainted and collaborating with the regions of the country. He specifically highlighted Syunik for its unique geopolitical position and role.
The Ambassador expressed his readiness to work on developing partnerships between Canadian investors and businessmen in the region. Other areas of possible cooperation were also discussed at the meeting. Accompanied by the Governor, the Canadian Ambassador, also visited Kapan Airport and familiarized himself with its work.
