ArmInfo. The Armenian Embassy in Georgia warns of traffic restrictions in the Devdoraki tunnel on the Georgian-Russian border. The Armenian Embassy in Georgia informs that maintenance work will be conducted in the Devdoraki tunnel, located at 132-135 km of the international highway Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars (M-3), near the Russian Federation border. The restrictions will be in place on August 15, 16 and 17 from 10:00 to 19:00, the movement of all types of vehicles will be limited. "During the closure of the automobile tunnel, the vehicles will be redirected to the entrance road of the Devdoraki tunnel (H-205). The movement of vehicles will be carried out according to a temporarily organized schedule and under the direct control and coordination of the patrol police," the Armenian Embassy reported, also publishing a diagram of the bypass road.
Recall that the Upper Lars checkpoint is the only operating checkpoint between Russia and Georgia. All vehicles, including those going to Armenia and Turkey, pass through this checkpoint.
Last week the border crossing between Russia and Georgia was temporarily closed due to maintenance work on the Georgian side. Today, several thousand trucks, including those with Armenian license plates, are standing in multi-day queues to cross the border. Drivers complain that the wait can drag on for 5 days or even longer.
