ArmInfo. 82 buildings, including houses and other structures, were damaged as a result of the earthquake that struck on August 12 in the Gegharkunik region of Armenia. This was reported by Narek Sargsyan, press secretary of the RA MIA, at a press conference in Yerevan on August 14.
According to him, after the earthquake, 120 citizens called the Rescue Service. Most of the buildings in the village of Yeranos were damaged. The damage assessment commission recorded cracks of varying depths in 56 houses in the village, as well as in a school and a kindergarten, stones fell from 4 barns. In the village of Tsovasar, cracks were found in two houses, and in the village of Tsakkar, a school, the Church of the Holy Mother of God, and a community center were damaged. "The damage assessment is still ongoing, as new reports are coming in about damage in other villages," the RA Interior Ministry spokesperson emphasized.
To recall that on August 12 at 02:02, 9 km from the village of Yeranos, northwest of the city of Martuni, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 was recorded. The earthquake's epicenter was at a depth of 10 km, and the magnitude of the tremors at the epicenter was 5-6 points. The earthquake was felt in Gegharkunik region (5 points), Kotayk region (4 points) and Yerevan (2-3 points).
