ArmInfo. In Armenia, many people abuse sugar, often without even realizing the danger, reported the RA Ministry of Health.
The source notes that consuming more than 50 grams (or more than 12 teaspoons) of sugar per day can lead to weight gain, obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, and cardiovascular disease. "There are products that seem "healthy", but in fact cause great harm to your health, as they contain a lot of hidden sugar, such as fruit yoghurts or fruit juices. For example, products containing a lot of sugar include 1 glass of natural juice (30 grams or 7.5 teaspoons of sugar), 1 cup of carbonated sweet drink (33 grams or 8.5 teaspoons of sugar), 1 piece of milk chocolate (6 grams or 1.5 teaspoons of sugar), 100 grams of ice cream (21 grams or 5 teaspoons of sugar), 200 grams of kefir (6 grams or 1.5 teaspoons), 1 small cookie (3 grams or 3/4 teaspoon). To check the amount of added sugar in products, you need to read the labels and avoid products with added sugar," the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
