ArmInfo. Armenia will not take part in the special exercises of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces "Cobalt-2024" in the Novosibirsk region.
According to the press service of the Russian Guard, representatives of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan will take part in the exercises with command and control bodies and formations of special forces, scheduled for August 14-16.
Back in February of this year, in one of his interviews with foreign media, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the CSTO had not fulfilled its obligations towards Armenia during the aggression by Azerbaijan in 2021 and 2022, and for this reason Yerevan was freezing its participation in the CSTO. Later, he did not rule out Armenia's withdrawal from this military alliance.
And already on May 8, official Yerevan announced that it would not participate in financing the CSTO this year. Following this statement by Yerevan, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Moscow proceeds from the fact that Armenia retains financial obligations in accordance with the CSTO Charter. We will add that in recent years, Armenia has not participated not only in CSTO exercises, but also in official events within the Organization.
