ArmInfo. French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottingies reminded the Azerbaijani ambassador to the Netherlands of the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians' right to return to their homes.
The controversy between the French Ambassador to Armenia and the Azerbaijani Ambassador to the Netherlands on Twitter (X) began due to a publication from the opening of the Olympic Games, which was shared by the French diplomat.
He shared a video report by French journalist Laurent Delausse, who, representing the Armenian team at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris on the France 2 channel, told viewers about the attack of Azerbaijan on Artsakh. "Armenia, of course, our Armenian friends, a country historically close to the hearts of the French, in a year marked for the Armenian people by the fall of Nagorno-Karabakh at the hands of the Azerbaijani army," Delausse said.
The Azerbaijani diplomat wrote in response: "The Armenians are, of course, your friends. But the point is not in the "fall" of Karabakh, but in the fact that its renewal and rebirth are beginning, and wonderful prospects are opening up before it. If the Armenians are "good guys", they will be able to take advantage of these opportunities."
The French diplomat's response was not long in coming: "Mr. Ambassador, as you say, there are no "good guys" in the law. The Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh are holders of rights recognized by the International Court, starting with the right to return. And the Court's decisions are binding."
