ArmInfo. Only 2% of respondents in Georgia consider Armenia the country's main friend. This is evidenced by the results of the Caucasus Barometer 2024 study conducted by the Caucasus Research Resource Center (CRRC).
When asked which country is currently Georgia's main friend, 24% named the USA, 8% Azerbaijan, 7% Ukraine, 4% Turkey and Germany, 2% Armenia, Russia, France, another 1% each received Israel and China, others - 3%. At the same time, more than a quarter of respondents - 26% believe that Georgia has no friends.
Over the past 12 years, the number of those who believe that Georgia has no enemies has not changed - it is 4%.
At the same time, the majority of Georgian citizens consider the country's main enemy
Russia, 69% of respondents. In a similar study in 2021, this was 66%. In 2019, Russia was considered the main enemy of the country by 49%, in 2017 - 40%, in 2012 - 35%.
Now in the United States, 4% of respondents see Georgia as an enemy, and in Turkey - 2%. In the 2012 study, both of these countries scored 3%.
At the same time, 64% of respondents were in favor of doing business with Armenia, 32% - against. It is also curious that only 42% of respondents supported the marriage of Georgians with Armenians, 54% were against it.
The survey was conducted from April 16 to May 13 in all regions of Georgia. Using the personal interview method, 1509 people were interviewed in Georgian, Armenian and Azerbaijani languages. Respondents were selected using a multi-stage cluster sampling method.
The Caucasus Barometer is an annual study of socio-economic problems and political attitudes conducted by the Caucasus Research Resource Center (CRRC) in two countries of the South Caucasus: Armenia and Georgia. The project started in 2004.
