ArmInfo.Azerbaijan is in a hurry to completely get rid of the rich Armenian cultural heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh. This is how the Ambassador of Armenia to Greece to Cyprus & Albania Tigran Mkrtchyan commented on the 7th report of Caucasus Heritage Watch (CHW) on Artsakh, which reports a 75% increase in cases of destruction of Armenian heritage in the occupied territories of the NKR by Azerbaijan.
" Have been warning about this extremely dangerous process. Azerbaijan is in a hurry to get completely rid of the rich Armenian cultural heritage in Nagorno Karabakh. It's vandalism or,worse, a cultural genocide. Thus, Baku is consistently&exceedingly violating CIJ ICJ decisions," Mkrtchyan said.
Earlier, Caucasus Heritage Watch published a report based on satellite images, which talks about the destruction of Armenian cultural and religious heritage in the occupied territories of Artsakh by Azerbaijan.
"We are deeply concerned that the total number of destroyed heritage sites has increased by 75% between our missions in autumn 2023 and spring 2024, and the number of sites classified as endangered has also increased by 29%," the Caucasus Heritage Watch report says.
