ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya in Vilnius. Ms. Tikhanovskaya herself, as well as Armenian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ani Badalyan, reported on the X (formerly Twitter), publishing a message with a photo from the meeting.
"Great honor to meet ArmenianFM Ararat Mirzoyan in Vilnius. I thanked Armenia for its firm stance against Lukashenka's regime & expressed hope for continued close cooperation between Armenia & our democratic forces. The people of Armenia & Belarus deserve a free, democratic & European future," Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya wrote.
Notably, Belarusian opposition politician Svetlana Tikhanovskaya lives in Vilnius. On June 13, in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that he would refrain from visiting Belarus while Alexander Lukashenko is president there. Pashinyan noted that Lukashenko had recently stated that his country had participated in the 44-day war, believed in and wished victory to Azerbaijan. "And you want me to go to Belarus after that and discuss issues related to the CSTO with the president of that country?" the RA Prime Minister asked. Immediately after this statement, Yerevan recalled its ambassador to Minsk, and the Belarusian side did the same.
