ArmInfo. The current opportunity for peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia should not be missed. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated at the "High Level Observer Day" of EFES - 2024 exercise in Izmir.
At the same time, Erdogan noted that Armenia will be closer to peace with Azerbaijan if it "gets rid of dependence on external forces and the Diaspora." At the same time, he once again either advised or threatened Armenia to take "advantage of the historical opportunities" that opened up after the forceful seizure of Artsakh.
"The Armenian people should see the future not with those who write poetry abroad, but with the neighbors with whom they have lived for centuries, understand this and be bolder," Erdogan noted.
Speaking about the event itself, the Turkish leader assured that that the EFES-2024 exercise of the Turkish Armed Forces is not directed against any country and is carried out in a general scenario, which is focused on peacekeeping operations. According to him, Turkiye is ready for dialogue, contacts and strengthening ties with all countries that respect its interests and seek cooperation with it.
The multinational EFES-2024 exercise is taking place in the Turkish province of Izmir on May 29-30. A total of 11 thousand military personnel are involved in the maneuvers, including over 1.5 thousand military personnel from 50 countries.
Notably, Turkey has repeatedly emphasized that the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations is directly related to the Azerbaijani-Armenian normalization. In addition, Ankara has repeatedly stated that the conclusion of a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan will help ensure security in the South Caucasus.
