ArmInfo. Considering the request of many traders working in the Komitas Avenue market, it was decided to postpone the repair works in the market for at least 3-5 months, through the mediation of Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan.
This will ensure a smoother transition for traders to a new workplace where they can continue selling their goods. This is stated in the official statement of the owner of the Komitas market, Union-Service LLC. At the same time, the company emphasized that the historical and cultural building of the Komitas market will not be subject to external interference. And on the territory adjacent to the market building, shopping pavilions have already been dismantled. It is planned to construct a modern building on this site, which will give a new look to Komitas Avenue.
In addition, the statement says that the market on Komitas Avenue is entirely owned by a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, Grigor Ter-Ghazaryan. The market building was privatized on September 30, 2002. The current owner purchased it from private parties on September 1, 2022.
Notably, there are about 100 traders working in the market, many of whom have been working for decades.
