"Tavush for Motherland" supporters to celebrate First Republic Day in  Sardarapat

ArmInfo.On May 28 - the Day of the Battle of Sardarapat and the proclamation of the First Republic,  supporters of the movement "Tavush for the Motherland", led by the leader of the movement, candidate for Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Archbishop Bagrat Galsatyan, will celebrate in Sardarapat.

A little earlier, Galstanyan, speaking in the courtyard of St. Anne's  Church, called on citizens to gather at Shahumyan Square today at5:00  p.m. to move in the direction of Sardarapat at 6:00 p.m.   "We'll  stay there at night and celebrate the 106th anniversary of the First  Republic," he said.

As the archbishop pointed out, it is very important that the march,  and then the celebration in Sardarapat, be crowded. "May 28 is one of  the most important events of fundamental importance for the  preservation of our identity. This is not only about our physical,  but also our spiritual content," he said.

In the glorious battle of Sardarapat from May 21 to May 28, 1918, the  Turkish army was defeated by regular Armenian military units and  militia.    On May 28, at the end of the battle, the First Republic  of Armenia was proclaimed.
