At least 4 people were killed after yesterday's heavy rains, which led to the overflow of the banks of the Debed and Aghstev rivers and flooding in the Lori and Tavush regions. According to information provided by the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs on May 26, the disaster damaged roads, bridges and railway lines. In order to eliminate the consequences of the disaster, an operational group was formed chaired by Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia Gnel Sanosyan.
According to the latest data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, 429 people were rescued and evacuated from various settlements in Lori and Tavush regions, in particular, 387 people in Lori region, 42 people in Tavush region. 4 bodies were found in the disaster zone: Avag Avagyan (born in 1948), Saribek Balyan (b. in 1985), Gnel Zakaran (b. in 1964), Gagik Nazlukhanyan (b. in 1964). Currently, work is underway to evacuate residents of the Sanahin station, pump out water from the basements of flooded buildings and structures, as well as work to remove a truck blocked in Haghpat.
