ArmInfo. The Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies unanimously adopted a resolution to support Armenia and establish peace and stability in the region, which condemns the forced migration of more than 100 thousand Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of the unjustified military operation of Azerbaijan.
As stated in the message released by the Armenian Embassy in Luxembourg, the resolution regarding the decision of the International Court of Justice dated November 17, 2023 calls for respect for international law, as well as for the immediate release of Armenian prisoners of war by Azerbaijan. Emphasizing the recognition of the territorial integrity of the countries of the region based on the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991, the resolution encourages delimitation work between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the regulation of diplomatic relations in the region.
The resolution welcomes Armenia's democratic progress, as well as Armenia's ratification of the Rome Statute.
The adopted resolution emphasizes the importance of deepening EU-Armenia relations through the new partnership program, as well as the important commitment to the European Union's civilian mission in Armenia and supports an increased EU role in the process of resolving the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. In addition, the document encourages strengthening economic, scientific and educational ties between Luxembourg, the EU and Armenia.
Notably, the Azerbaijani side reacted to this resolution in its characteristic hysterical manner. Thus, the Azerbaijani parliament assessed the resolution of the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies "as an attempt to obstruct the peace process." In this vein, the Azerbaijani MM rejected this resolution and accused Luxembourg MPs of "inability to understand current realities."
