ArmInfo.The Azatazen organization issued a statement in connection with the illegal detention of one of the co-founders of the organization, Ishkhan Gevorgyan, and four of his comrades.
"On the night of May 14-15, the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia arrested for 72 hours the co-founder, member of the board of the public organization "Azatazen" Ishkhan Gevorgyan and 4 more associates: Hrachya Tovmasyan, Harry Avagyan, Andranik Yeghyan and Hayk Mesropyan. They were detained on suspicion of illegal acquisition and transportation of firearms, explosives, detonation devices," the statement said.
It is emphasized that Azatazen will take all legal measures to protect the rights of Ishkhan Gevorgyan and other friends.
It is also noted that the director of corporate law of the Lev Group law office, lawyer Taron Baghdasaryan and his partner Varazdat Harutyunyan, took upon themselves to defend the violated rights of Ishkhan Gevorgyan and other associates.
"We, especially Ishkhan, the people who work day and night to spread the culture of carrying legal weapons, are making every effort to create the appropriate infrastructure, regulate laws and everyone knows about it. We have sworn not to solve internal problems with the help of our knowledge and weapons. We We have always fulfilled this promise and are keeping it," said Nagarsh Baghdasaryan, executive director of the Azatazen public organization.
ArmInfo previously reported on the detention of Gevorgyan and his comrades. It is curious that no weapons were found on them, however, they were still taken into custody.
