ArmInfo.Malta is very transparent in its actions during its chairmanship of the OSCE, OSCE Chair-in-Office, Maltese Foreign Minister Jan Borg stated this at a press conference in Yerevan on May 13.
"We will assist Armenia and Azerbaijan in achieving long-term regional peace. We are informed that both Yerevan and Baku prefer to resolve issues and disagreements between them in a bilateral format, and we, as the OSCE, will contribute to this," Borg said.
When asked to assess the process of delimitation and demarcation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the OSCE Chairman-in-Office expressed the conviction that for constructiveness to exist, it is necessary for the parties to resolve this issue among themselves.
"I definitely will not help the process if I express my position, since this is a bilateral process. Both in Yerevan and in Baku, I will refrain from making assessments, and please respect this position of mine," Borg concluded.
For many years Azerbaijan tried to ensure that direct negotiations took place between Baku and Yerevan. And this year he managed to achieve this. Moreover, at the end of last week, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that the Armenian Prime Minister is fully implementing the Azerbaijani side's agenda for the peace process.
