ArmInfo.The US and the EU 'assign Armenia only the role of an instrument for igniting a new big  fire'. Spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated on April 18 during a weekly briefing.

Thus, when asked to comment on the news of some mass media that  certain military-political agreements were reached at the high-level  Armenia-US-EU meeting in Brussels on April 5, and whether Moscow  knows what it is about, Zakharova stated that what was described  above is called "leaks" ".  "And earlier in Yerevan they assured that  the meeting with Western countries was not directed against third  countries.  Taking into account all of the above factors, we expect a  clear response from the Armenian authorities to the spread inewsn, as  you said, and it would be better to receive its refutation. But in  any case, we are waiting for the official answer from Yerevan," the  Russian diplomat said.

According to her, at the same time, Moscow will not be surprised if  in the designated document "Building Armenian defense security  reselians" - a plan that envisages the replacement of Russian border  guards and the Russian military base with American-EU-NATO  specialists, the expansion by Americans and EU members of subversive  work on border against Azerbaijan and Iran, as well as the  reorientation of Armenia's critical infrastructure and energy system  with the dismantling of the Metsamor nuclear power plant, were indeed  imposed on Yerevan by EU and US representatives during a high-level  meeting in Brussels on April 5.

"It is obvious that both Washington and Brussels have set the goal of  destroying the entire array of ties between Russia and Armenia in the  field of security and economics, weakening of regional security and  economic partnership mechanisms based on CSTO and EAEU. As we  understand, the Westerners are also trying to bring disputes to our  closest neighbors: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Iran, Turkey and  Russia, no matter what beautiful words they say about caring for  peace in the South Caucasus, Armenia is assigned only the role of an  instrument with which the United States and the EU want to ignite a  new big fire," - assured Zakharova, adding that this is what the  collective West has learned to do.

"It is naive to believe that the above-mentioned Western measures  will somehow increase the defense capability of Armenia, increase its  border security, and ensure its economic prosperity. On the contrary,  they want to deprive Armenia of everything national - national  defense, economy, energy and give in return obviously unfulfillable  "road maps" and other endless demagoguery," said a representative of  the Russian Foreign Ministry.

She assures that sooner, after playing enough and solving their  opportunistic problems, the Westerners will leave Armenia.

Speaking about the energy sector gave an example of Lithuania, which  has to buy electricity at extremely high prices instead of peaceful  Russian nuclear energy. "Time has proven that Russian peaceful  nuclear technologies are the most advanced and reliable in the world.  And we are ready to continue to provide them to Armenia, where 30% of  the generating capacity is at the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant," the  diplomat concluded.

On April 5, a Pashinyan-Blinken-von der Leyen meeting took place in  Brussels. At the beginning of the negotiations, in particular, the  President of the European Commission announced that Brussels would  provide Armenia with an additional 270 million euros of assistance  over the next four years in order to support small and medium-sized  businesses, as well as infrastructure development. The US Secretary  of State also announced additional assistance, with assistance  several times less than the European one: $65 million. The Prime  Minister of Armenia expressed gratitude for this ongoing commitment  and emphasized that Armenia is ready to continue reforms and close  relations with the West.
