On April 17, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan received director of the the Francophone Regional Centre for Central and Eastern Europe (CREFECO) of the International Organization of la Francophonie (OIF), Emmanuel Samson . This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science.
Welcoming the guests, Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized the importance of cooperation with the CREFECO, aimed at training French language teachers and teaching the French language. The OIF entrusted Armenia with hosting the 10th International Francophonie Sports and Cultural Games, which, according to the minister, is a very important and responsible commitment for Armenia.
"In addition to organizing events related to culture and sports, within the framework of the games, we must also significantly improve the French-speaking environment in our country," said Zhanna Andreasyan. According to her, recently the number of educational institutions providing advanced training in French has increased. Currently, 18 schools are included in the program. In the context of deepening cooperation, the minister emphasized the importance of French support in the creation of textbooks and educational materials, especially in connection with the introduction of a new state general education standard.
Emmanuel Samson , in turn, noted with satisfaction the active role of Armenia in the OIF. According to him, Armenia has repeatedly expressed its loyalty to the), OIF ideas and values. Emmanuel Samson noted that CREFECO is ready to organize training courses for French language teachers through the International Organization of la Francophonie, as well as provide support in the creation of educational resources During the meeting, the parties also discussed other issues of mutual interest, expressing their readiness to deepen relations and implement other joint initiatives aimed at developing the French language.
