ArmInfo.Armenia has never before had such a high level of subjectivity as it does now, Armen Khachatryan of the dominant parliamentary faction Civil Contract told reporters about this on April 3, commenting on the statements by Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova.
A day earlier the diplomat said that a "road map" had been formed to destroy the socio-economic well- being of Armenia. According to her, the whole world looks at the European Union as a collapsing structure that has not justified itself because it has lost its sovereignty. "This is exactly what Western curators want from Armenia - the loss of their own sovereignty, nothing more," said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Meanwhile, according to a deputy from the ruling faction, the fact that the interests of Yerevan are taken into account by both the countries of the European Union and the United States, with which many issues are discussed, speaks volumes. In the past, as Khachatryan emphasized, issues related to Armenia were resolved in Maria Zakharova's country of residence. One example of the growth of subjectivity, the parliamentarian continued, is the formation of a multi-layered security system. "The country's authorities are doing everything in their power to ensure that the country's security system meets today's requirements. Some people like it, some don't, it doesn't matter, we are moving along our path," the deputy said, pointing out the problems of previous security systems involving Armenia, which were only on paper and did not work. As a result of the inaction of this system, today Azerbaijan controls more than 150 square km of the country's sovereign territory. "From now on, we do not have the right to unfounded trust, taking steps to diversify the areas of ensuring our security. This happens at the political, diplomatic and military levels," the MP said.
He added that when Armenia was in dire need of military assistance from its allies, the 102nd Russian military base stationed in the country did nothing to help. The Russian military is physically present on the borders, but in fact they are inactive. "The allies often make shameful statements, such as "we call for a cessation of hostilities", "show restraint", but nothing more. Even during Azerbaijan's aggression against Armenia, accusations were made against both sides. Moreover, there were even statements that that they don't know who attacked whom. They, it turns out, don't know whose territory Jermuk, Goris, and other settlements are located in," the deputy noted.
The parliamentarian noted that there is still no reaction from the Collective Security Treaty Organization. In response to Yerevan's demands to indicate where Armenia's borders begin and end, especially in the context of the Organization's zone of responsibility, the CSTO got away with a vague statement, which cannot be called anything other than another maneuver. "This is a biased and unacceptable statement. The Republic of Armenia has state internationally recognized borders, with which the country joined the CSTO. Thus, the Organization recognized these borders, and now denies this fact," Khachatryan said, adding that, in fact, the CSTO recognizes only the borders of Yerevan.
On April 1, the CSTO issued a statement in which it indicated that it considered its area of responsibility in Armenia to be its sovereign territory within the regulated borders. "The wording on the zone of responsibility is quite complex, and it is more intended to draw attention to the situation in the republic than to receive a substantive answer. Because in accordance with the 2010 agreement on the principles of interaction, which was signed in the CSTO, the zone of responsibility is the sovereign territory of the member states ", the organization said. The CSTO noted that "the CSTO's area of responsibility ends where the state border passes, which is settled on a bilateral basis between Armenia and its neighbors."
