ArmInfo. Now Russia is going through a rather difficult period in relations with friendly, fraternal Armenia, Dmitry Peskov, Spokesperson for the President of Russia, said in an interview with aif.ru.
"It is even more than fraternal, because there are even more Armenians living here than in Armenia itself. And by the way, the economic activity of these Armenians, citizens of the Russian Federation, still provides a very large percentage in the total budget of Armenia. People transfer money there, We're talking about several billion dollars a year.
But the Caucasus region, unfortunately, attracts the attention of various extra-regional forces. We are convinced that the participation of these forces should be greatly limited, because it is not capable of bringing stability and prosperity there. Therefore, we hope that political will will prevail in Yerevan to continue the development of our relations, and we will successfully pass through this difficult period," Peskov added.
At the same time, the Kremlin representative noted that interaction with the CIS countries is the main foreign policy priority. "We actually have a common economic space with the member states of the EAEU. There are other formats of cooperation related to politics, security, and so on. All these types of integration are workable, their potential is far from being fully realized. Somewhere, of course, problems arise "When we are talking about such close interaction, it cannot be done without problems. But the partnership nature of the relationship allows us to constructively overcome all this," Peskov said.
