Moscow-brought accusations against Yerevan result of Armenian  leadership`s inconsistent policy - expert

Moscow's accusations against Yerevan are the result not only of conspiracies against  Armenia, but also of the inconsistent, adventuristic policy of the republic's authorities, President of the Yerevan Press Club Boris Navasardyan wrote on his Facebook account, commenting on the attacks  of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova against Armenia.

"If you watched Maria Zakharova's latest briefing, which some  Armenian media diligently broadcast live for two hours, you would  hardly understand what kind of "combination" Moscow and Baku are  playing against Yerevan. Azerbaijan is using threats to force Nikol  Pashinyan to announce the surrender of four villages of Tavush  region, and a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry,  answering a question from the Baku TV channel, warns that the Russian  Federation has nothing to do with this "deal" and that Pashinyan was  prompted to take such a step by his "campaign to the West." Behind  the invasion of Russia, the CSTO and Azerbaijan into the territory  The RA in several directions followed the spread of the concept of a  "conditional Armenian-Azerbaijani border", invented by our "strategic  ally" in Baku (it is Zakharova who is most active in this), which, in  fact, legitimizes any Azerbaijani aggression," the political  scientist believes.

Navasardyan noted that it would be okay if Baku and Moscow planned to  include the transfer of four Tavush villages in the trilateral  statement of November 9, 2020. "What is significant, according to the  representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, is the coincidence of  time between the transfer of the same villages and the rapprochement  of the Republic of Armenia with the European Union, hoping that our  society will not notice much, does not remember much, and, taking  advantage of this, we can try to blame the loss on Macron, Scholz,  Michel, Blinken and Stoltenberg, discrediting the prospect of  Europeanization of Armenia.

As can be seen, Azerbaijani and some Armenian media contribute to the  delivery of relevant information. It would be misunderstood if my  message was taken as a call to hide information. But the allocation  of a huge amount of airtime, Zakharova's desire not to miss a single  word and to convey it without delay to a frightened and whispering  audience cannot but raise questions. Yerevan found itself in  zugzwang.

By not submitting to Baku's demands, you increase the risk of a new  escalation; by obeying, you are calling into question the  effectiveness of cooperation with the West, including in the field of  security. In turn, Moscow finds itself in a "win-win" situation:  escalation increases the opportunity to regain the status of a  "player", and a unilateral concession to Armenia weakens the  country's resistance to such new "combinations". Unfortunately, this  is the result not only of conspiracies against us, but also of our  own inconsistent, adventurist policies. Whether we were able to learn  a lesson from this will be shown by further developments," emphasized  the President of the Yerevan Press Club.
