ArmInfo.The General Department of Investigation of Crimes against the State, Fundamentals of the Constitutional Order and Public Security of the RA Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal proceeding against a serviceman of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces Ruslan Eldanis-Oghlu Penakhov.
Yesterday, the National Security Service of Armenia confirmed the fact of the detention of an Azerbaijani serviceman. It was noted that on February 28, at around 05:15, a serviceman of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, armed with an AKM-type assault rifle with one clip, crossed the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line in the border area of the Tegh community of Syunik region. The latter was disarmed by soldiers of the Armenian Ministry of Defense. Earlier, a number of social and political figures reported about the crossing of two Azerbaijani servicemen into the territory of Armenia. It was reported that one was detained and the other escaped.
As the press service of the RA Investigative Committee reports: "A criminal proceeding was initiated in General Department of Investigation of Crimes against the State, Fundamentals of the Constitutional Order and Public Security of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Points 7 and 15 of the Part 2 of the Article 44-155, the Part 1 of the Article 335, the Part 1 of the Article 340, the Part 1 of the Article 44-425 and the Part 1 of the Article 469 of RA Criminal Code regarding the cases of diversion attempt, murder attempt in a way dangerous for other people's life, as well as out of national, religious hatred, intolerance and hostility, illegal carrying and transportation of firearm, ammunition, smuggling of firearm and ammunition and illegal crossing of state border committed on February 28, 2024 by Ruslan Eldanis-Oghlu Penakhov, servicemen of the armed forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
By the investigator's decision, Ruslan Penakhov was arrested.
The circumstances are being found out through investigation."
