ArmInfo. Russian troops are on the territory of Armenia in accordance with a bilateral agreement. Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the"Armenia" opposition faction Armen Rustamyan told reporters on February 27.
Answering a question about the possibility of withdrawing Russian troops from the territory of the Republic of Armenia, Rustamyan noted that such issues should be resolved on the basis of an appropriate agreement. "But if this is not done, and everything is carried out against the backdrop of statements such as "in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis we are not on Russia's side", "we have frozen our relations with the CSTO", then it turns out that all these steps and actions fit into the logic of the actions of the authorities to withdraw the Russians," Rustamyan said. He added that this may bring more than serious losses to Armenia.
The MP emphasized that against the backdrop of this rhetoric, Russia may even announce the withdrawal of its border guards from the country's borders. "There were cases when Moscow declared that its presence on one or another section of the border was not planned. "You need this, and that's why we are here, they say" the parliamentarian emphasized.
He pointed out that if the Russian troops withdraw, Armenia will receive a "transparent Armenian-Turkish border" so that the enemy can calmly enter, as they did in Ishkhanasar. As a result, as the MP stated, there will be nothing left of Armenia.
