ArmInfo.Tax and customs employees occupying vacant or temporarily vacant positions will be considered civil servants. At a meeting on February 21, the RA National Assembly Standing Committee on Economic Affairs issued a positive conclusion on the amendments to the laws "On the Tax Service" and "On the Customs Service" presented by the RA government in the second reading.
According to the First Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia Artem Smbatyan, when a vacant position opens in these bodies, two options are offered. The first option concerns attracting specialists from the personnel reserve. Under the second option, which will be in effect until July 1, 2024, temporary workers will be considered government employees when appointed to vacant positions.
Smbatyan noted that the personnel reserve, as a rule, includes people who have been laid off due to structural changes. After being appointed to a vacant position, these individuals undergo two weeks of retraining, after which they will be able to apply to continue their work activities.
