ArmInfo. There have been and will be provocations from Azerbaijan, it is important that they are minimized and do not develop into a large-scale escalation, Armen Khachatryan, a member of the dominant parliamentary faction Civil Contract, told reporters on February 13, commenting on the provocation near the village of Nerkin Hand, during which, according to preliminary information, four Armenian servicemen were killed and some were wounded.
Khachatryan pointed out the importance of taking the necessary political, diplomatic and defense measures. He noted that no country in the world has non-aggression guarantees. The deputy emphasized that the Ministry of Defense will conduct an official investigation into the circumstances of the incident, including the question of why the provocation was committed by Azerbaijan.
The deputy noted that Baku has been resorting to such provocations for 30 years. They can be reduced to a minimum only by achieving political agreement on a peace treaty. "But in any case, our armed forces must always be ready for any provocations," the parliamentarian said.
