ArmInfo. Representative of Armenia on International Legal Matters Yeghishe Kirakosyan posted the following message on his X account:
"A truly historic moment for Armenia! Armenia has already commenced drafting the legislation for ensuring the smooth implementation of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. The success of international justice depends on the commitment by each member of the international community and there should be no room for scepticism."
On February 1, Armenia officially became a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Moscow previously called Yerevan's ratification of the Rome Statute of the ICC unacceptable against the backdrop of illegal court orders against the Russian leadership.
In November 2023, the ICC announced that Armenia, as of February 1, 2024, will become the 124th state party to accede to the Rome Statute and the 19th state from the Eastern European group.
