ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan denies opposition accusations that he initiated the adoption of a new constitution to fulfill Azerbaijan's precondition for signing a peace treaty.
"There is no such thing, I will say more, in the version of the draft peace treaty there is a clause that the parties cannot fail to fulfill their obligations, referring to domestic legislation. This is, first of all, an internal agenda," Pashinyan said during a government hour in parliament.
The head of the Armenian Cabinet also added that the external environment of Armenia is not the same as it was during the adoption of the current constitution, and it needs to be adapted to new realities. He added that constitutional reforms are a consequence of changes in the external situation in the South Caucasus. Pashinyan also noted that the authorities do not have any draft of a new Basic Law in their hands. <I would like to make it clear: we do not have any version of the draft Constitution. I just suggested and allowed such a possibility, but nothing more," the head of the Armenian government emphasized.
