ArmInfo. Official Baku will send Armenia a response to the latest proposals for a peace treaty in the coming weeks. As Interfax reports, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told reporters on January 27.
"We have received another package of proposals from Armenia for a peace treaty. We will respond to them in the coming weeks," Bayramov said.
He also noted that face-to-face meetings between the parties to the peace treaty will continue in 2024. On January 10, at a press conference in Yerevan, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan pointed out regression in Azerbaijan's position in the negotiations. "Since the beginning of the year, Armenia has been constructively involved in negotiations with Azerbaijan, which were aimed at regulating relations with Azerbaijan.
This applies to both the general negotiation process and, in particular, the conclusion of the so-called peace treaty, the start of the process of delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, as well as the unblocking and restart of regional transport connections and economic infrastructures," Mirzoyan said. He highlighted a number of principles by which Armenia remains committed to the negotiation process. "First, Armenia and Azerbaijan must recognize each other's territorial integrity without any ambiguity or language that leaves room for differences.
Secondly, the border between countries should be delimited on the basis of official maps of the USSR," he said.
At the same time, the Armenian minister noted that the legal invulnerability of recognized borders is fundamental for Armenia.
"Thirdly, regional economic and transport infrastructures must be unblocked under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of countries and on the principles of reciprocity and equality. Here we also see regression on the Azerbaijani side," the foreign minister said.
