ArmInfo.A member of the "Mother Armenia" bloc faction of the Council of Elders of Yerevan, Nare Hayrapetyan (Nare Sose), was kidnapped, leader of the faction, Manuk Sukiasyan, wrote on his Facebook page.
According to him, the kidnappers made certain political demands on the kidnapped woman and warned her about her social and political activities. "Nare Hayrapetyan reported the crime to the police. We demand that law enforcement agencies disclose the incident that occurred on January 15," Manuk Sukiasyan said in a statement.
Shamshyan.com criminal chronicle website also covered the incident, which reported that on January 15, around 09:30, unknown persons from Totovents Street forced Narine Hayrapetyan, a resident of Yerevan, to get into the car, after which she was blindfolded. Then the attackers transported her to an unfamiliar place, where a certain man aged 60-65 met her, who pointed out that Hayrapetyan's statements and political activities were inadmissible. After that, the same persons took her back, where they dropped her off on Abovyan Street.
According to spokesperson of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia Gor Abrahamyan, a criminal case has been opened on this fact. "A report was received regarding the kidnapping, in connection with which on January 17, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Article 191, part 2, paragraph 5 of the Criminal Code. An investigation is currently underway to verify the data. The police have been instructed to conduct an investigation and transfer important information the investigative body conducting the proceedings," Gor Abrahamyan noted.
