ArmInfo. One of favorite pastimes of Azerbaijanis - "sheep theft" - continues on the border with Armenia.
As Masis Zeynalayan and Argam Hovsepyan, former members of the Council of Elders of the Aravus community of Syunik region from the Aprelu yerkir (Country of Living) opposition faction told reporters, today the Azerbaijanis stole 200 heads of sheep from a village resident. The incident happened around 11 am. They said that after the 44-day war, Azerbaijanis captured most of the community's pastures. According to them, the remaining part of the village's pastures is close to Azerbaijani positions, and this morning, while one of the village residents was grazing sheep, the enemy side stole 200 heads from a flock of 400 heads. They also reported that the Armenian side did not take any steps to prevent these enemy actions.
It is noteworthy that spokesperson of the Armenian Ministry of Defense Aram Torosyan, in turn, told the reporters that the circumstances of the sheep crossing the border on the Azerbaijani side are being studied by the relevant authorities. At the same time, he assured that no incidents, ceasefire violations or infiltration attempts were recorded.
Let us also add that this is not the first time that Azerbaijanis have stolen large and small livestock from Armenian villagers, which remains without consequences.
Thus, in August 2021, Azerbaijani servicemen stole 8 cows and 1 bull belonging to three families in the villages of Chakaten and David Bek of the Kapan community. On June 16 of the same year, Azerbaijani servicemen stole a cow and a newly born calf from a shepherd in the pasture of the village of Verin Shorzha, and immediately slaughtered them. On June 7 of the same year, more than 80 heads of cattle were stolen from a resident of the village of Kut, Gegharkunik region. In January 2022, a shepherd and a flock of sheep were stolen from the Tegh community in Syunik region, etc.
