ArmInfo. Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia Sasun Khachatryan hosted a delegation led by Richard Nephew, Coordinator on Global Anti-Corruption of the US Department of State.
The U.S. delegation included Chip Laitinen, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the United States of America in Yerevan, Armenia, Alexis Haftvani, INL Director (Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs) U.S. Department of State.
According to the press service of the Committee, Sasun Khachatryan presented the main directions and priorities of the department's activities , touched upon the results recorded in the fight against corruption, noting that compared to 2022, in 2023 the number of cases considered by the committee and sent to court with an indictment increased by 98.8%, and the number of persons brought to justice , increased by 96.5%, due to increased efficiency in the fight against corruption and an increase in the detection rate.
Mr Nephew, thanked Committee Chairman Sasun Khachatryan for ensuring serious and high-ranking representation of Armenia at this conference and noted that effective steps should now be taken to implement the resolutions adopted during the anti-corruption conference.
At the same time, he emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the fight against corruption, given that corruption itself is a universal problem at the international level, the solution of which requires joint will and efforts.
During the meeting, the need to introduce the latest information technologies and purchase equipment with greater technical capabilities in order to increase the efficiency of the investigation was also touched upon. The American side expressed its readiness to continue assistance in developing the potential of the Anti- Corruption Committee and increasing the professional knowledge of employees through the cooperation program of the US Embassy.
