ArmInfo. Armenia has always supported the "One China" principle, Ani Badalyan, spokesperson of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told reporters.
Such was the reaction of the Armenian Foreign Office regarding the numerous requests of the media, related to the fact that Yerevan, unlike Tbilisi, Baku and Tehran, did not promptly respond to the results of the elections held in Taiwan.
"We reiterate our position on this occasion," Badalyan said.
Earlier a representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that the Taiwan issue is an internal matter of the PRC. "No matter what changes happen in Taiwan, the basic fact that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is part of China will not change," he said. The Chinese Foreign Ministry added that Beijing's position on upholding the principle of one China will not change. Following the results of the elections held on January 13, the candidate from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party, Lai Ching-te , the current vice president, will become the next president of Taiwan.
