ArmInfo. Armenia and Russia are negotiating on the issue of undelivered weapons, Secretary of Armenia's Security Council Armen Grigoryan told Armenia's Public TV.
"We have talked about this many times. Since 2021, Armenia has had many agreements with Russia that were not fulfilled and supplies were not carried out. Negotiations are underway on some of these agreements: in some cases, financial issues are resolved in a different way, and in others agreements are being updated in accordance with our new needs, and in this way we are trying to resolve existing issues. Currently, there are no new agreements," he said, again adding that a number of agreements are being updated in accordance with new needs.
Regarding Armenia's refusal to meet with Azerbaijan on the Russian platform, Grigoryan recalled that the Moscow negotiations were based on the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020.
"Since September 19, ethnic cleansing has occurred in Nagorno-Karabakh. Until now, Russia has not provided us with an explanation regarding these events that took place in the presence of Russian peacekeepers," said the Secretary of the Armenian Security Council.
In response to the presenter's remark that Russia explained what happened at the highest level, noting that this is the result of Armenia's recognition of Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan, the Armenian official again distorted the speech of Russian President Vladimir Putin from December 2020. According to him, then Russia already recognized Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan. "According to the statement of November 9, 2020, Russia pledged to ensure the security of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh," he said, adding that the agreement of November 9 no longer exists, and there is no point in going to Moscow.
At the same time, he also emphasized that Armenia no longer has any expectations from the CSTO. According to him, the CSTO has never recognized the borders of Armenia, its area of responsibility in the Caucasus region, which is a serious problem. The official also assured that the CSTO did not offer any military-technical support to Armenia.
Speaking about interaction with the collective West on the issue of cooperation in the defense sector, he emphasized that Armenia is modernizing its army and striving to acquire modern weapons to protect its sovereignty and democracy.
