ArmInfo. Iran sees that Armenia is determined to take steps to establish sustainable peace in the South Caucasus. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stated on December 27 in Yerevan at a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, in response to the question of whether Tehran is ready to act as a guarantor of security in the process of establishing peace between Baku and Yerevan.
The Iranian minister noted that yesterday he had a telephone conversation with his Azerbaijani counterpart and noted that Baku also welcomes the achievement of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"I also had two telephone conversations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during this week. I believe that sustainable peace may be achieved in the first months of next year. And we are optimistic that the positive signs that exist in the region can be consolidated without the intervention of external forces, including within the 3+3framework of the regional platform," the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry added.
In turn, Mirzoyan, touching on Iran's role in establishing peace in the region, noted that he had repeatedly had the opportunity to talk about this. "This role has already manifested itself, and continues to manifest itself. We have heard many times Iran's clear position on the peace process, the inviolability of borders, and the sovereignty of Armenia," he said, calling Iran's position on the principles of resolving relations between Yerevan and Baku a great contribution to this process.
