ArmInfo. Armenia did not join the EU Council decision on restrictive measures of December 4, Ani Badalyan, Spokesperson for Armenia's foreign office, told ArmInfo.
Earlier, ArmInfo asked the Armenian Foreign Ministry to comment on the statement of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on extending restrictive measures on the so-called "European Magnitsky List" for another year, where it was noted that Armenia and Azerbaijan supported this decision. In this regard, ArmInfo asked whether the Armenian side assessed the risks and consequences of this decision, taking into account the fact that it includes countries such as Iran, Syria, Russia, which are states friendly to Yerevan.
The day after Borrell posted this statement, it was corrected, and references to Armenia and Azerbaijan were removed.
The representative of the Armenian Foreign Ministry emphasized that based on foreign policy priorities and within the framework of partnership with the EU, Yerevan monitors and often joins the statements of the European Union.
"Based on foreign policy priorities and within the framework of partnership with the European Union, Armenia follows and often joins EU statements, demonstrating its support and solidarity regarding the issues discussed in them. But, specifically, the decision of the EU Council on restrictive measures of December 4 (2023/2721) ", Armenia did not join. In particular, the Republic of Armenia did not join the decision of the EU Council of December 4 on restrictive measures (2023/2721), as can be seen from the message of the EU Council of December 17," Badalyan emphasized.
