ArmInfo. Black Sea submarine electricity cable project, initiated by Georgia, is in an active stage, said Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili, presenting the government's report for 2023.
Recalling that he proposed this project to Brussels as one of the pilot projects in 2021, he said in particular: "Since then, our friends - Azerbaijan, Romania and Hungary - have been participating in this project."
Garibashvili added that the next stage of work on the project will begin in the near future.
On December 17, 2022, the Agreement on a strategic partnership in the field of development and transfer of green energy between the governments of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary was signed in Bucharest. The intergovernmental agreement provides for the laying of an undersea electric cable that will pass through Georgia and the Black Sea to transport "green energy" between Azerbaijan and Romania.
Armenia has recently begun to show interest in this project, with the encouragement of the EU.
