ArmInfo. At the moment, no discussions or agreements have been reached regarding the meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan. Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan told reporters, commenting at the request of the media on the statement of the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken that the latter "looks forward to hosting the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers in Washington soon for peace negotiations".
In this regard, he recalled that Armenia has never refused such meetings, while Azerbaijan has already rejected the possibility of holding negotiations on the peace agenda 3 times. "We hope that the Azerbaijani side will be constructive. And that in addition to statements that they want peace, that they recognize the territorial integrity of Armenia, that there is a historical chance and in practice they were able to take steps that would lead to real peace," the head of the National Assembly said.
He noted that the only important thing for the Armenian side is that the platform where the negotiations will take place is valid.
Whereas according to the speaker, Azerbaijan avoids international platforms because it understands that international partners are already familiar with the style of their work, with the driven policy of ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh, which puts them in a difficult position. "This is a fact. And that's why they avoid international platforms, because everyone sees the difference between the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides," Simonyan said.
