ArmInfo.In Armenia, the issue of the right of citizens to self- defense with the use of weapons will be resolved at the legislative level. At a meeting on December 4, the RA National Assembly Standing Committee on Defense  and Security  issued a positive conclusion on amendments to the law "On Weapons" and the package of related laws.

As the author of the presented document, MP from the ruling "Civil  Contract" faction Vilen Gabrielyan, noted in his speech, the  presented package, in addition to its protective function, also  pursues the goal of developing shooting sports, eliminating possible  manifestations of corruption in this area, reducing the number of  illegal weapons and its gradual withdrawal from illegal circulation.  According to the bill, citizens of the country will have the right to  carry firearms if they meet a number of requirements, including the  mental stability of individuals, the availability of an appropriate  license, etc. From a purely substantive point of view, the law has  not undergone any changes compared to the law adopted in 2022; there  are only numerous technical issues. Together with the Government of  the Republic of Armenia, these issues were identified and reflected  in the presented document.
