ArmInfo. It is clear to everyone that the idea of the so-called "Zangezur Corridor" is irrelevant. Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Seyed Abbas Mousavi stated in an interview with Pars Today.
According to him, instead, the agreement on the establishment of the Araks Road corridor between Iran and Azerbaijan is relevant. It represents a great opportunity that should be pursued on the national and even international agenda.
Mousavi added that after "Azerbaijan's resolution of the issue with Nagorno-Karabakh," various ideas about peace and a ceasefire in the Caucasus are put on the agenda. "Meanwhile, Western countries tried to exclude Iran from the equations of this region and continue to promote their false 'narratives', but this discussion was removed from the agenda through a series of measures implemented at different levels," the diplomat said.
At the same time, he informed that according to the agreement between Iran and Azerbaijan, a railway bridge will be built across the Araks River with investments from the Azerbaijani side. This bridge will be built parallel to the Agbendi Bridge, which is a road across the Araks River.
Let us note that Azerbaijan, in tandem with Turkey, is trying to get an extraterritorial corridor through the Syunik region of Armenia. Such corridor may give them the opportunity to connect Azerbaijan with its exclave of Nakhichevan at their discretion.
