ArmInfo. The French Senate recommended studying the issue of supplying CAESAR artillery systems to Armenia as soon as possible, considering the effectiveness of this equipment and Nexter's new production capacity in 2024.
Thus, in a message from the French Senate, it is recalled that Armenia recently signed a contract with France for three GM200 radars from Thales and there are talks about the supply of MISTRAL 3 anti- aircraft missile systems.
"24 armored vehicles of the Bastion type produced by the French company Arquus have already been delivered to Armenia and they should be joined by another 26 vehicles of the same type that are currently being produced," the French Senate said in a statement. In this vein, it is stated that the French authorities initiated the supply of "defensive" weapons to Armenia. "This distinction between defensive and offensive weapons is actually not very practical, as the war in Ukraine has shown. Let's not repeat the same mistakes and delay the delivery of equipment that would have been needed from the very beginning. That is why we must respond quickly to all requests authorities of Armenia, especially regarding their need for artillery," the French Senate said. Let us recall that agreements on the supply of weapons by France to Armenia were reached in October 2023 in Paris at a meeting of the head of the French military department, Sebastien Lecornu with Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan.
