ArmInfo. From now on, the director and deputies of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia will be appointed and dismissed not by the President, but by the Prime Minister. The corresponding decision was made at a government meeting.
"Under the current regulations, it turns out that the positions of director and deputy directors of the National Security Service are military service positions. The director of the service is appointed and dismissed by the President of the Republic on the proposal of the Prime Minister.
Considering that, according to paragraph 1 of part 2 of Article 5 of the Law "On Bodies of the Public Administration System", the Service is a body subordinate to the Prime Minister, and the director and deputy directors of the Service, according to the current regulations, are appointed and dismissed by the president, it is necessary to revise the existing regulations in such a way that the Prime Minister appoints and dismisses the mentioned persons, taking into account the subordination of the Service to the Prime Minister," the source notes.
The project was considered urgent and will be sent to the National Assembly.
